Evaluating the Implications of Lineaments on Petroleum Fields: South Sumatra, Indonesia

Declining oil prices has led to a reduction of petroleum exploration as production no longer lucrative area investment in the previous years. Current activities are supported by field work which intensive considering resources required. There is need develop low cost methods delineate areas potential hydrocarbon resources. This research uses Land Satellite (Landsat) 8 Operational Imager (OLI) for alteration extraction, Shutter Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) lineament Geological maps method exploration. The results indicate high OH bearing alterations on Gumai and Kasai formation, seal rock. Extensional tectonics responsible migration from subsurface. It suggested that future be concentrated formation based evidence micro seepage.
